Personal Injury Lawyers in Key West, Florida
A Key West search still leaves an important question: which firm works on this kind of incident? Use the firm profiles as a starting point, then confirm practice focus, service area, and license status directly.
Key West appears in the live firm-location data even though it is outside the ranked population set used on this page.
Identify what could disappear
Video, app data, vehicle information, inspection records, and witness recollections can be time-sensitive. In Key West, first note where the injury happened, who was present, and who made a report. For a traffic collision, save the report number, vehicle and insurer details, trip records if a hired ride was involved, and original photos. For a fall in a store, restaurant, hotel, or parking area, record the precise spot, condition you observed, witnesses, and any report to staff. The fact that an injury happened at a place does not by itself establish legal responsibility.
Schools, parks, sidewalks, and public buildings call for an additional question: who owned or controlled the exact location? A Key West or Florida agency, school district, private operator, property owner, or contractor may have different duties and procedures. If an animal was involved, preserve the owner’s identity, medical records, witness details, and any animal-control contact. These facts help a lawyer identify what to investigate.
Before you call, separate what you saw from what someone else told you. Make a short timeline of medical care, missed work, and insurer contact, then save the original messages and documents. Ask the firm which records it would obtain itself and whether any camera footage, vehicle data, or school records should be preserved quickly. You do not need to decide who was at fault before speaking with a lawyer; a focused account of the known facts is more useful than a conclusion.

Road and hired-ride records in Key West
For a car, motorcycle, bicycle, pedestrian, delivery, taxi, Uber, or Lyft incident, preserve the route, direction, nearest intersection, vehicle details, report number, original photos, and app or delivery record. Ask whether commercial or platform records need an early preservation request.
The first investigation should also test who controlled the site, vehicle, animal, equipment, or activity and which records exist in Key West. Preserve what you have without editing originals. If a Florida public body or public school may be involved, ask about immunity and claim-notice procedures immediately.
Florida rules to raise early
Florida Statutes § 95.11(5)(a) sets a two-year period for an action founded on negligence. Other types of claims and exceptions can differ. Under § 768.81, a claimant’s fault can reduce damages; in covered negligence actions, a person found more than 50% at fault for their own harm cannot recover, with a statutory exception for medical negligence.
Section 767.04 generally makes a dog owner liable for a bite in a public place or when the injured person was lawfully on private property, while also addressing the injured person’s negligence and a posted warning exception. Claims against Florida public bodies can require written presentment and have other limits under § 768.28; ask a lawyer to check the current rule for the exact entity and incident.

Compare lawyers for this particular incident
Ask each firm whether it currently handles the relevant type of case in Florida. For a collision, ask how it investigates disputed fault and preserves vehicle or trip records. For a dog bite, ask which elements and defenses the applicable dog-injury rule requires. For a public place or school, ask about experience identifying the right public entity and checking notice requirements. A firm that handles one injury category may not handle all of them.
Also ask which lawyer will supervise the work, who will contact you, how often you can expect updates, and what happens if the firm declines the case. Request written terms covering the fee, expenses, any termination provision, and what you might owe if there is no recovery. A directory profile is not an endorsement or a promise that a firm will take your case.
